Dhanush and Tapsi starrer upcoming film ‘Aadukalam’ movie release rights have been acquired by Sun Pictures that has bought the movie from the original producer Group Company.
The former movie of Dhanush’s ‘Padikadhavan’ was also acquired by Sun Pictures and now this will be the second film for it.
The movie ‘Aadukalam’ brings together hero Dhanush, director Vettrimaran and producer Group Company combo once again after a big hit of their earlier project ‘Polladhavan’.
The story of the film is based on Madurai-based youth (Dhanush), who falls in love with an Anglo Indian woman. G V Prakash has given the music that would be a major highlight of the film.

Violence breaks out in deemed university in Tamil Nadu
Violence broke out on Tuesday in one of the 17 educational institutions in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry set to lose their deemed university status, as panic gripped about 50,000 students studying in these colleges.
With the Centre deciding to strip 44 educational institutions countrywide of their deemed university status, the managements of some of such universities in Tamil Nadu--some of them which are just a year old-- are planning to move the court.
Students of Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, near here, damaged computers and boycotted classes, after their institution figured in the list.
As estimated 50,000 students are studying in 16 deemed universities in Tamil Nadu and one in Puducherry, mostly run by politicians. Bharat University, for example, is run by the children of Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting S Jagatratshagan.

Fog disrupts 60 Delhi flights; 4 trains cancelled
Dense fog enveloped the IGI airport here this morning, disrupting the schedule of around 60 domestic and international flights.
Three flights were diverted, five domestic flights cancelled and eight domestic and international flights were rescheduled. Around 40 domestic and international flights were delayed by several hours, causing inconvenience to passengers.
Fog started to descend on the airport last night and it become very dense at around 10.30 pm when the general visibility dropped to zero and the runway visibility to less than 100 metres.
The condition worsened in the morning when the runway visibility dropped to 75 metres for both, main and new, runways.
Very few flights, which operated using the CAT-III B instrument landing system, have arrived or departed since morning due to the poor visibility at the airport, the official said.
According to the MET department, the condition would continue to remain the same till afternoon.
The airport has been witnessing dense fog since last Wednesday, affecting the schedule of over 350 flights.

Top Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) terrorist Mohammed Amjad alias Khwaja, who was nabbed in Chennai on Monday, has confessed he intended to launch a terror attack in Hyderabad on Republic Day, TV channel Times Now, which claimed to have a copy of Khwaja's statement, reported on Wednesday.
According to the report, the terrorist admitted that he is a HuJI commander and intended to strike in Hyderabad and create chaos in January 26.
Khwaja (27), who admitted being trained in Pakistan, has three passports in three different names. He has an Indian, a Bangladeshi and a Pakistani passport.
The arrested terrorist, who allegedly has close links with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Indian Mujahideen (IM), was wanted in the 2005 Hyderabad task force office blast and is also believed to be behind the Hyderabad twin blasts in 2007 which claimed 42 lives.

1/2 cup Italian-seasoned dry bread crumbs
1 egg, beaten
1 (10.75 ounce) can Campbell's® Condensed Golden Mushroom Soup
1/4 cup water
Directions
Mix thoroughly beef, bread crumbs and egg. Shape firmly into 8x4-inch loaf in baking pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. Spread 1/2 can soup over top of meat loaf. Bake 30 minutes or until done.
Mix 2 tablespoons drippings, remaining soup and water in saucepan. Heat through and serve with meat loaf.

Wipro Q3 net profit up 4.76% at Rs 1,217 cr
India's third largest IT services exporter, Wipro has declared its third quarter results of FY10. It has reported a jump of 4.76% in its consolidated net profit of Rs 1,217 crore in Q3FY10 as against Rs 1,161.7 crore, (QoQ).
The company's consolidated revenues increased 0.71% to Rs 6,966 crore versus Rs 6,917.2 in the previous quarter. The numbers were better-than street expectations; CNBC-TV18 was expecting net profit at Rs 1,152.1 crore and revenues at Rs 6,749.3 crore while third quarter numbers of Wipro were lower than Infosys and TCS.
In dollar terms, its revenues went up 5.8% to USD 1126.8 million, QoQ.

TCS to hire 8,500 trainees and 3,000 laterals in Q4
India’s top IT firm TCS has announced that it has decided to hire about 8,500 trainees and 3,000 laterals in Q4.
It is to be noted that TCS has hired 8,703 trainees in Q3. TCS' Vice President and Head, Global Human Resources, Ajoyendra Mukherjee confirmed the news.
"We have already employed 8,703 trainees in Q3 and expect to add 8,500 more trainees in Q4 FY 10. We have also hired 3,000 laterals in Q3 and given the growth we may continue to hire in Q4 as well"—he said.
Although the company had a significant growth in the recruitment process in Q3, TCS has announced it will still continue to look for more employees in Q4.
"We have had significant employee additions in Q3 and still have increased our talent utilisation to industry leading levels. We remain prepared to meet the growth in demand," Mukherjee said.

A report from a popular security software firm McAfee has said that the Chinese has used the flaws in Microsoft Explorer to hack the Google’s email accounts of China’s Human Rights activists.

Eight Chennai deemed universities to lose their status
Around 44 deemed universities will lose its ‘deemed’ status according to the affidavit filed by Ministry of Human Resource and Development. The affidavit was filed based on the findings of the PN Tandon Committee and the Special Task Force which was appointed to look into the issue.
In the report, it was stated that the deemed universities were more a family-oriented business than run for academic purposes.
Based on this, 44 universities will be derecognized and around two lakh students who belong to these universities will now study under the affiliated colleges of their original universities.
The affidavit stated, “The Review Committee came across several aberrations in the functioning of some of the institutions deemed to be universities. It found undesirable management architecture where families rather than professional academics controlled the functioning of institutions.”
The Centre also stated that these deemed universities had increased the seats beyond their original capacity.
Around 126 deemed universities came under the scanner and of them 44 were found unfit, another 44 were asked to set right their infrastructure and the remaining 38 were found to be fit.

China tried to hack our computers - M K Narayanan
National Security Adviser (NSA) M K Narayanan said, Chinese hackers tried to break into computers in the office of India's NSA.
“This was not the first instance of an attempt to hack into our computers," he stated.
He informed that his office and other government departments were targeted on December 15, the same date that US companies reported cyber attacks from China.
Narayanan said that the attack came in the form of an e-mail with a PDF attachment which contained a 'Trojan' virus, which allows a hacker to access a computer remotely and download or delete files.
He added, the virus was detected and officials were told not to log on until it was eliminated.
Chinese hackers are suspected to be responsible for this virus attack.
"People seem to be fairly sure it was the Chinese. It is difficult to find the exact source but this is the main suspicion. It seems well founded," he said and added, India was co-operating with the US and UK to bolster its cyber defences.
China has denied any role in the hacking attacks, which began on December 15 and also targeted US defence contractors and finance and technology companies, including the search engine giant Google.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said, "Hacking in whatever form is prohibited by law in China."
Google had last week threatened to close its operations in China after a series of cyber attacks on the email accounts of Chinese human rights activists.

Cinematographer V.K Murthy chosen for Dada Saheb Phalke Award
Legendary cinematographer V.K. Murthy, best remembered as the cinematographer for all Guru Dutt films, has been chosen for the Dada Saheb Phalke Award for the year 2008.
This is the first time that a cinematographer has been selected for this award.
Murthy broke new grounds, ushered in modern and highly sophisticated techniques and brought in rich visual artistry to Indian cinema. He shot India's first cinemascope movie Kagaz Ke Phool (1959) and was the cinematographer for all of Guru Dutt films, an official statement said.
Murthy has been cinematographer for films Ziddi (1948), Baazi (1951), Jaal (1952), Pyasa (1957) and Chaudhvin ka Chand (1960), among others.
Born in 1923 and having spent nearly five decades in Mumbai, the ace cinematographer is now based in Bangalore.
The award will be conferred by President Pratibha Patil but the date is yet to be announced. Along with the award, Murthy will also receive a cash prize of Rs.10 lakh, a Swarna Kamal and a shawl.

'Goa' is now giving her lots of trouble, including court case and spoiling her reputations.
Now, the latest is that there is no buyers for the movie and so she is taking all risk to release the same on her own.

Kutty is doing Good
Danush should be the happiest as his Kutty is doing well comparing to all other movies that was released for this Pongal.
While Aayiraththil Oruvan of Kaarthi is struck with vulgarity and skin shows, its Kutty which can be seen by a family sitting together.
The movie was a remake of Telugu movie and was done in Tamil by Jawahar.

Kushboo who supports the right of women to have pre-marital sex has been criticised by one of the country's most supreme judge - Chief Justice of India.
Kushboo is being prosecuted in her adopted home state of Tamil Nadu for outraging public decency.
She is trying to have the proceedings against her dropped by appealing to the Supreme Court in Delhi.
But Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan was not sympathetic towards her arguments, saying they were "difficult to accept".
Cultural taboo
"It is difficult to digest her statement," he said. "We cannot accept her contention that she did not commit any offence."
Kushboo, who is now also a prominent TV show host, said in a 2005 interview to a magazine that there was "nothing wrong in women having pre-marital sex, but they should follow all precautionary measures".

The remarks stirred controversy in a conservative country where pre-marital sex is still a cultural taboo.
Several cases have been filed against her across Tamil Nadu in various courts under different sections of the Indian penal code.

Badrinath Next For Allu Arjun
'Arya2' is running to packed houses in the state and its hero Allu Arjun, who has got appreciation from everyone, is naturally on the cloud nine. He is gearing up for his next film 'Badrinath', to be directed by VV Vinayak. The film is produced by Allu Aravind.
Vinayak is planning to make the film as a thorough mass and action entertainer, in which Arjun will be seen in a powerful action-based role. 'Bunny', the last outing of the actor-director duo was commercially successful. The two are joined by, Geetha Arts, which has a stature of its own after the immense success of 'Ghajini' and 'Magadheera'.
We can expect a costly entertainer. The rest of the cast and crew is yet to be finalised. It is learnt that the story discussions are almost over.

Selvaraghavan to Quit Cinema
Making an open challenge, Selvaraghavan said on Monday that he would quit films if anyone could prove that his recent-release 'Aayirathil Oruvan' was a copy of several Hollywood films.
Speaking to journalists in Chennai along with the cast and crew of the 'Pongal release', he said the film was a honest and sincere effort to take Tamil cinema to new heights.
"I don't need a Western movie to inspire me for the purpose. 'Aayirathil Oruvan' was based on original idea and it was an outcome of three years of hardwork of our entire team," he said.
On comments that the story was difficult to be understood by the audience, the filmmaker said the audience should elevate themselves to the next level to understand the movie.
"When you are able to watch fantasy Hollywood films like 'Avatar' and 'Harry Potter' without any questions, why not 'Aayirathil Oruvan'? he asked. Selva was accompanied by producer of the film Raveendran, lead actors Karthi, Reema and Parthiban and music composer G V Prakash Kumar during the media meet.

Shambo Siva Shambo had Ravi Teja doing the role made memorable by Sasikumar, and the remake was almost a carbon copy of the original.
What went wrong? The film according to experts just did not fit in with Telugu sentiments and nativity.
Says a leading Vijayawada based distributor: “First the film was released at the wrong time along with biggies like NTR’s Adurs and Venkatesh’s Namo Venkatesa.
The director’s message that ‘friends are forever and will help other friends’ just did not wash with our audiences.”
It looks like Shambo Siva Shambo will be a total washout. The basic thing that directors should realize is that Tamil hits other than action movies rarely work as remakes in other languages, due to culture and customs being different.

Income Tax Raid at Surya, KS Ravikumar, Vadivelu House
The Income Tax department has cracked down on actor Suriya and his close associates. The raids started early in the morning from 7 am and went on till afternoon 2pm.
IT officials conducted the raid at various offices and residences of the star and those closely associated with him.
Among those from Kollywood who were raided are Suriya, KS Ravikumar (Aadhavan director), AR Murgadoss (Ghajini director), Gjnavel Raja the actor's cousin and producer of his next film Singam.
The offices of Agaram Foundation, a charity trust and foundation floated by the actor and a business man associated with the foundation have come under the IT scanner.
The raids have come four days after Vijay TV and Suriya’s Agaram Foundation came together for a movement called ‘Vidhai’ to generate the pool corpus to help students to achieve their academic goals.
Suriya and a few businessmen raised Rs 1 crore for the “noble cause”. On Pongal day Vijay TV showed a special programme anchored by Suriya titled Oru Koodi, Oru Thodakkam , where Agaram Foundation’s efforts were highlighted.
