HuJI planned terror attack in Hyderabad on Republic Day

Top Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) terrorist Mohammed Amjad alias Khwaja, who was nabbed in Chennai on Monday, has confessed he intended to launch a terror attack in Hyderabad on Republic Day, TV channel Times Now, which claimed to have a copy of Khwaja's statement, reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, the terrorist admitted that he is a HuJI commander and intended to strike in Hyderabad and create chaos in January 26.

Khwaja (27), who admitted being trained in Pakistan, has three passports in three different names. He has an Indian, a Bangladeshi and a Pakistani passport.

The arrested terrorist, who allegedly has close links with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Indian Mujahideen (IM), was wanted in the 2005 Hyderabad task force office blast and is also believed to be behind the Hyderabad twin blasts in 2007 which claimed 42 lives.
