Produced by Kalpathi S.Agoram and directed by Vijay (remember his ‘Kireedam’ and ‘Poi Solla Porom’?), this period piece, set in the Madras of the 1940s (more specifically Vannarappet area), speaks about the love that blossoms between a young dhobi who is also a trained wrestler and the lovely daughter of the Madras Governor. The stars include Arya (who has really struggled to tone up his physique) Amy Jackson (he British actress who won the ‘Miss Teen Princess award’), Nasser, VMC Haneefa, Alex O’Neill, M.S.Bhaskar and many others. G.V.Prakash who did a neat job in the offbeat movie ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’, is the music composer for this film. The entire crew seems to have taken a lot of effort to bring out the feel of Madras as it was then.

Raavanan Songs Review

Music Director : AR Rahman
Vocals : Vijay Prakash, Mustafa Kutoane, Keerthi Sagathia, Karthik, Benny Dayal, Shankar Mahadevan, Anuradha Sriram, Shreya Goshal, Bhagyaraj, Rayhanah, Tanvi Shah.
Lyrics : Vairamuthu

Produced by Madras Talkies, this long-awaited movie brings together so many talents - Mani Ratnam directs, Suhasini Mani Ratnam pens the dialogues, Santosh Sivan cranks the camera, Vairamuthu handles the lyrics and Sabyasachi Mukherji designs the costumes. To top it all, our own A.R. Rahman takes charge of the music section. Explosive, isn’t it? The title itself suggests that ‘abduction’ could be the central theme of the story. By the way, the actors are Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Prithviraj, Karthik, Prabhu and Priya Mani. All lyrics are by Vairamuthu.

Ram Gopal Varma is a happy man

Director Ram Gopal Varma is a happy man today, thanks to Suriya. When the director approached him to begin the shooting of Raktha Charithra, the actor asked for a month’s time to tone up his body. RGV was sceptical about it because Suriya already had a fabulous body but decided to honour his wishes. A month later, when the actor presented himself before the director, he was surprised at the changes

Nayanthara is Happy

Nayanthara is happy that Elektra came her way. The movie is being directed by Shyam Prasad, the ace director. Nayan says that she always wanted to act under Shyam’s direction ever since she watched his Ore Kadal.

The lady is happy that the role offered to her in Elektra is woman-centric. Nayan plays Elektra Alexander in it and is happy to carry the title role. And what more! She gets to team up with Prakash Raj and Manisha Koirala in the film.

The actress rued that though it was her desire to act in meaningful films that offered her scope to act, she just got glam roles in Tamil and Telugu film industries.

Kites Movie Review

Starring: Hrithik Roshan, Kangna Ranaut, Barbara Mori, Kabir Bedi, Nick Brown.
Direction: Anurag Basu
Music: Rajesh Roshan
Production: Filmkraft Productions (I) Pvt Ltd

The movie starts off with a wounded Jai(Hrithik Roshan), in Mexico who is in-search of his true love who had gone missing. Jai's story then shifts to a flash back mode to know who he is and why is he in Mexico in such a horrible state? As the entire movie rests on a wafer thin story, let’s get straight to the analysis.

Hrithik Roshan is too good an actor to make mistakes and he is flawless as usual. He dances, looks and emotes like a star. Barbara Mori looks hot and has also come out with a touching performance. The scene in which she slaps Hrithik and the subsequent dialogues rendered are powerful and her eyes speaks volumes. Kangana Ranaut is just a show piece, she looks a million bucks and after a sensational dance sequence, she is hardly covered in a close up. She is there just to add to the glamour and star power. Nick Brown, over does his role but still is convincing enough as a baddie. Kabir Bedi is efficient.
