Is Rajkumar Hirani’s, Aamir Khan- Madhavan- Sharman Joshi- Kareena Kapoor mega hit 3 Idiots going to be remade in Tamil and Telugu?
The grapevine is abuzz that Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) is in advanced state of negotiations to buy the rights at a new record price for a remake.
Remember that GFC had a few years back remade Munnabhai MBBS into Kamal Hassan’s Vasool Raja MBBS in Tamil and in Telugu as Chiranjeevi’s Shankar Dada MBBS after buying remake rights from the same 3 Idiots producers Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani?
Says Mano Akkineni, of GFC: “Yes we are negotiating with Vinod and Raju for the remake rights of 3 Idiots. But nothing has been firmed up including the star cast.” Most of Kollywoods leading men like Suriya, Vikram, and Vijay has seen the film and have appreciated it. Ilayaraja charges advertisers for violating copyrights
Music Maestro Ilayaraja today hit out at advertisers, using the compositions of his and others in violation of copyright provisions and warned against usage of his works before the year 2000 without ''prior permission and licensing.''
Talking to newspersons here, he said ''It is a warning. Movie producers and composers are advised not to use my songs and background scores(including remixes) without prior permission and licensing. It is also mandatory for advertisement agencies, TV Channels and TV serial producers to take proper license and permission from Agi Music to use my songs in their production or programme.'' Mr Ilayaraja said Agi Music has been authorised by him to initiate legal proceedings for such violations as the rights of his works prior to 2000 have been bagged by the company.
''Agi Music has the right to administrate all of Ilayaraja's works before the year 2000, in all areas and platform including radio broadcasting, synchronisation usages, mechanical usages, mobile contents and internet downloads,'' Agilan Lechaman, CEO, Agi Music, said.

Popular South Indian actress Genelia, who recently migrated to Bollywood with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Life Partner and Chance Pe Dance, has denied rumours of her forthcoming marriage with actor Riteish Deshmukh.
Earlier, a Mumbai-based tabloid reported that the actors became very close ever since the shooting of Tujhe Meri Kasam (2003) and their relationship is now heading towards marriage. The report also said that both families have approved the match and the marriage will take place in July this year.
However, these reports are far from true, say Genelia and Ritiesh Deshmukh on Twitter, strongly rubbishing these marriage reports.

Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus and her boyfriend Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth are said to be secretly spending time together on the Phillip Island.
Cyrus, 17, has been staying on the tiny holiday destination off the coast of Melbourne since her low-key arrival in Australia on December 30.
Hemsworth, 19, on the other hand has been there since Christmas, staying with his family, who live on the island, and Cyrus joined him later to ring in the New Year.
The two blended seamlessly into the holiday crowd and were seen together at the annual Pyramid Rock festival on New Year’s Eve.
“She was wearing a Billabong top, a bikini top underneath and denim shorts and honestly looked like every other teenage girl that was there,” News.com.au quoted an onlooker as saying.

Lara Bingle’s Aston Martin taken for a ride by local youths
Aussie model Lara Bingle’s Aston Martin is said to have been stolen by a group of local youths who wanted to take the car for a ride.
Theories had emerged as to why the car was stolen and then just dumped, but now according to two sources on Campbell Pde, a group of local youths have been telling friends they took it for a joy ride after taking advantage of an opportunity to steal it.
“They’ve been saying they saw Lara’s Range Rover [the couple’s other vehicle] parked in the middle parking section of Campbell Pde and knew that she owned it,” the Daily Telegraph quoted one of the sources as saying.
“So they broke in to see what they could find, then found the Aston Martin keys inside the glovebox and knew which building she lived in and went after the car.
“They’re claiming they only drove it around for a few hours before dumping it in Maroubra but later went back and moved it to south Coogee, where it was found,” the source added.

Amitabh Bachchan would be happy to promote Gujarat
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan Wednesday said he would be willing to be the brand ambassador of Gujarat and added that he would like to be a part of a documentary on the state.
"I would be happy to lend my face and voice for the cause of Gujarat," Bachchan told reporters here when asked if he would be brand ambassador for Gujarat like he already was for Uttar Pradesh.
The actor was in Gandhinagar for a special screening of his film Paa for Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Bachchan was all praise for the development in Gujarat and said the state was a place worth visiting again and again.
"If the government planned a documentary to showcase the state, I would like to be a part of it," he said.
"I would be happy to lend my face and voice for the cause of Gujarat," Bachchan told reporters here when asked if he would be brand ambassador for Gujarat like he already was for Uttar Pradesh.
