Southern film actress Navya Nair’s marriage has been fixed by her family.The groom from Changanacherry is working in a multinational company in Mumbai.Her foray into malayalam film started at the age of 16 with the movie Ishttam.She was doing her higher secondary studies when she acted in her first film.
She had 91% in S.S.L.C and have successfuly carried both her education and profession.She has passed her M.B.A recently.She has done more than fifty films in various south indian languages.She has recieved Kerala state award for her perfomance in Nandanam(2002) ,Kanne Madanguka(2005) and for Saira(2005) respectively.Her father Mr.Raju is a B.S.N.L officer and her mother Mrs.Veena is a teacher.

Testimonies of 2 witnesses contradicted in Aafia case
The hearing of Pakistani neuroscientist detained in US Dr. Aafia Siddiqui took a new turn when there existed contradictions in the testimonies of two witnesses.
Afghan interpreter – a witness in the case – testified in contradiction with US army captain – the other witness in the case, saying Dr. Aafia Siddiqui opened fire while she was standing while the FBI agent said there were no fingerprints of Dr. Aafia on gun which allegedly used to shoot US troops in US.
A total of four witnesses questioned on the second day of hearing. During the hearing on yesterday, the US army Captain Robert Snyder testified before court that Aafia Siddique was sitting on her knee and the gun she was holding was aiming at him (Captain Snyder) while she opened fire.
But today, the other witness, the Afghan interpreter Ahmed Gul, testified that Aafia Siddique was standing while shooting but she took aim at another army official instead of Captain Snyder.
Ahmed Gul also revealed that those officials who called him in US to testify against Dr. Aafia provided him permanent residence here and now he has also obtained Green Card.

Sami Abraham: US Director National Intelligence Chief Denis Blair has called on Pakistan envoy to United States Hussain Haqqani here on Thursday morning, Geo news reported.
According to sources, the issues pertaining to surge in suspected US drone strikes on Pakistan land.
Blair also held meetings with Pakistan-origin US citizens. More than 2-dozen US Pakistanis were present on the occasion.
Following the meetings, according to statement issued from US Department of Intelligence, Blair sought cooperation from the attendees, present on the occasion, for swift growth and improvement in the ties of two allies on war on terrorism.

AIADMK in dilemma: Deputy Chief Minister Stalin
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Stalin has said that the AIADMK is in a big dilemma whether to contest or stay away from the Pennagaram by-election.

The 44-year-old actor plays a Pindari soldier leading a revolt against the British in the film set in 1857 and the project in the actor's own words has been a 'long and hard journey'.
"The idea has stayed with me for the past two decades and back then there was no scope for an ambitious project like Veer, not the budget, neither the audience. But that has changed now and after a long time, the film finally materialised," said Khan.

Cinema must tell present day stories says Director Thankar Bachan
Chennai, Jan 19: Well-known Tamil film Director Thankar Bachan today said cinema must tell ''present day stories'' rather than getting trapped in expressions ''commercial'' and ''entertainment''.
Addressing a press conference along with co Directors B Lenin and Vishnu Vardhan at the School of Media Studies at Loyola College here, the maker of sensitive films, said in India cinema has been reduced to intoxication, which when consumed keeps one hallucinating for three hours.
It was not used to educate and to awaken the people. Rather it is used to decimate language, kinships, culture and politics, he said.
Touching upon politics, he said there was nothing to be proud of after 63 years of Independence.
He lamented that in India directors were not even adapting stories from a third rate novel, but were lost in churning out the so called commercial films.
''In the whole of India there is no award for Best Adaptation,'' he pointed out and said that he had raised the issue of film award categorization for Tamil films and had suggested that the present Best Actor award be bifurcated into ''Best Hero'' and ''Best Actor'' award in Tamil films'', he said.
It has been accepted by the Directors Association here, Bachan, the director-actor, who champions the cause of ''films for social change'', said.
When a girl studnet wanted to know if she could enter the film world without ''compromise'' he asked her ''Is there a source of income for you? Unfortunately, unless you ensure a source of income for yourself, it is not prudent to be ambitious to become an actress today,'' he said.
He said he was waiting for a producer provide Rs 6.5 crore to film a movie on the life of Sri Lankan Tamils in five countries-''Thaaiman'' (motherland) for which his script was ready.

Namo Venkatesa celebrates success
The success met of Venkatesh-Trisha starrer – Namo Venkatesa – was held at Ramanaidu Studios, Hyderabad. The film is made on 14 Reels Entertainment banner with Suresh Productions presenting it.
Venkatesh, Brahmanandam, Seenu Vytla, Suresh Babu, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sivareddy, Subbaraju, Srinivasa Reddy, Bharath, Benerjee, producers Gopichand Achanta, Ram Achanta, Anil Sunkara, story writer Gopi Mohan, dialogue writer Chintapalle Ramana and others took part in the event.
Venkatesh said: “The tagline of the film says – Be positive. I wish that all the audiences and the industry should be positive for productive results. The film is the result of collective effort, which emerged out of the positive mindset of one and all.”
Seenu Vytla said: “When we thought of doing this film in December 2008, we immediately got on to the project and could finish the journey with positive results. With the hit of Namo Venkatesa, I wish to do another film with Venkatesh. My technicians are my strength.” He heaped praise on Devi Sri Prasad and Ramajogayya Sastry for their music and lyrics.
Brahmanandam said: “I did several films with Venkatesh. Apart from being a hero, Venkatesh is also a fine comedian. We both share good chemistry.”
Producer Gopichand Achanta said: “I am thankful to Seenu Vytla and Venkatesh. Seenu kept his word that he would launch on the success front.”
Meanwhile, the producers are planning to increase the number of prints following the demand from exhibitors all over the state. In view of the volatile situation in Telangana, some of the prints could be shifted to Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra districts.

Sixteen contesting teams of the tournament will play 44 matches among themselves.
The 16 teams which are participating are Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Canada, Hong Kong, Ireland, Papua New Guinea and the USA.
The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in Kenya, but they lost the right to hold the tournament.
India will look to defend the title and have already began there campaign by winning the first two matches. Australia and Pakistan both have won the event twice.

IT Raids rock Tamil Cinema
Officials of the Income Tax department on Tuesday carried out searches on the premises of several film personalities in Chennai and various parts of Tamil Nadu.
Based on a tip-off that film personalities have undeclared income, tax officials conducted searches at the residences of actors Suriya, Vadivelu, directors K S Ravikumar and A R Murugadas. Income tax officials in Madurai region searched Vadivelu's house there.
Spread over separate teams, IT sleuths descended at actor Suriya's residences in T Nagar and Adyar and that of Ravikumar's house at Saidapet. Though the officials were tightlipped about the seizures during the raids, sources said the raids were conducted for alleged tax evasion.
“The searches are in initial stages and details would be provided in a day or two after getting definite information,” officials were quoted as saying.
It may be noted that Suriya, Vadivelu and Ravikumar had combined together for the recent ‘Aadhavan’, which was produced by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's grand son Udhayanidhi Stalin. Murugados was said to be the director of a forthcoming
project of Udhayanidhi.

As the D- day is nearing we have more on Endhiran coming out. Now it is about the theme music. AR Rahman who is working on Endhiran songs from London has completed the theme music first at the behest of director Shankar. The theme music comes where ever the Robot Rajni appears. Shankar will plan and film the visual sequences based on the music. The story boards for the sequences are being readied at a frantic pace by the team of Shankar.
Apart from its music Endhiran is also is special for its choreography by Prabhu Deva, lyrics by Vairamuthu, art direction by Sabu Cyril and cinematography by Ratnavelu. Another specialty will be the exclusive sound effects crafted by the Oscar winner Resul Pookutty. Pookutty creates the unique metallic sound effects for the Robot charcter.

‘Kathireekaa’, a 24-minute documentary that speaks against Bt brinjal, was launched in Chennai on Tuesday. The movie was put together by actress Rohini and filmmakers Vasanth and Cheran.
The documentary has Tamil actors, writers, doctors, activists and farmers speaking against the genetically-modified food. It seeks to mobilise opinion against the introduction of Bt brinjal in this part of the world.
“Brinjal is just the beginning. Are we not manipulating nature? Should we fiddle around with nature for temporary solutions?” asked Rohini. Vasanth said: “The Tamil Nadu government should not be silent in this issue. Though West Bengal and Orissa are the largest producers of brinjal, people of Tamil Nadu are the largest consumers.”

India’s third largest IT services exporter, Wipro has declared its third quarter results of FY10. It has reported a jump of 4.76% in its consolidated net profit of Rs 1,217 crore in Q3FY10 as against Rs 1,161.7 crore, (QoQ).
IT services business added 31 new clients.

Gautham Menon to shoot Aaromale Song with Simbu and Trisha

End of deemed university era soon
After the announcement made by the Centre that 44 deemed universities are to be derecognized, students of two deemed universities in Tamil Nadu turned violent. The two deemed universities where students engaged in burning university property were Saveetha School of Engineering in Thandalam and Meenakshi University campus at Mangadu. Following this, the universities were closed indefinitely.
Though the government was quick enough to announce that the future of the students studying with these universities is secure, the students did not heed to the declaration.
Meanwhile, the Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said that the deemed university format itself will be abolished in India.
Speaking at the 10th Editor's Conference on social sector issues, Sibal said, "The concept of deemed universities from the country will go in the near future and this is part of the reform process. We are putting in place the required legislations."
He also stated that the 44 deemed universities were not derecognized and the center has only moved an affidavit in the Supreme Court. The minister assured that no student will suffer due to this move.
