15 JAYAM RAVIS AND 5 TAMANNAHS

Press meet of Thillalangadi, the remake of Telugu Kick was held at Four Frames preview theatre in Chennai this morning which was addressed by the director of the film Jayam Raja. While talking to the media, Raja shared many an interesting trivia about the film. He said that 95% of the film is completed with just a song and a few talkie portions pending. The film will be an April release coinciding with the summer vacation. Milan who was in charge of sets in Billa has worked in Thillalangadi too which demanded almost five times more work than Billa.

The specialty of Thillalangadi is that a unique song was shot using Nero motion control camera with 360 degree angle, the hiring cost of the camera alone is close to 2.5 lakhs per day. Scott from Malaysia was specially flown in to handle this camera. There would be 15 Jayam Ravis and 5 Tamannahs in different get ups in this scene. He said that it took them around 45 hours to shoot just this song sequence alone. The song ‘sol pechu kekkaadha sundari’ would surely be the highlight of the film which would find its top place in all the television channels. To a question on why so much of time and effort should go in to can just a song sequence, Raja said that songs are the pillars in a film which make a positive difference to entire viewing. He added that this is the first time that such a specialized technique was used to picturize a sequence in Tamil cinema.

When hero Ravi spoke he said that his brother is such a task master when it comes to extracting work from him and one sequence would be too demanding in every film for him under his brother’s direction but that would turn out to be the highlight of the film. While giving examples, Ravi quoted the boxing sequence in M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi, the final moving altercation between the father and son in Santosh Subramanian and the cow cleaning scene in Unakkum Enakkum. In a similar vein, this 360 degree song sequence would be a major hit in Thillalangadi, Ravi added.
