Chelsea is out of the Champions League

The great mandate in hiring Carlo Ancelotti as the new boss at Chelsea was supposed to be because he had massive experience in the European Cup both as a player and manager. Well that plan was foiled today at Stamford Bridge as Internazionale defeated the Blues 1-0 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League 3-1 on aggregate. Samuel Eto’o (pictured) poked in the game’s only goal from an incredible Wesley Sneijder pass to send the Milan side into the quarterfinals for the first time under former Chelsea manager José Mourinho.

And goals from Tomáš Necid and Keisuke Honda led CSKA Moscow to a stunning and improbable 2-1 victory today at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán against Sevilla. The 3-2 aggregate victory for the Russian side was an even bigger surprise than Inter posting a clean sheet in London. Diego Perotti brought the tie to level terms when he equalized just three minutes after Necid’s opener gave each side an away goal. But Honda’s 55th minute winner was enough to win both the game and the tie and shockingly leave just Barcelona as potential Spanish representatives in the quarterfinals of the Champions League
