Watch cricket highlights: Pakistan vs Australia at the Champions Trophy played on September 30.

Scoreline: Pakistan 205/6 – Kamran 44, Yousuf 45, Misbah 41 | Brett Lee 10-30-1
Australia scrape through off the final delivery – Hussey 64, Ponting 32, Lee 12 | All the Pakistani bowlers in the final stages of the game

Woohoo. If Pakistan who looked flat for extended periods of the game can push Australia to the final ball, all of a sudden my personal favourites New Zealand are looking shaky if an eager Pakistan turns up for the semis. The conspiracy theorists would have a lot to say with respect to India’s dependence on this result, but if you think about it objectively – when was the last time Pakistan played consistently through a tournament they won. That’s just how they are, which makes them the exciting team people look forward to watching. In a way, Pakistan supporters will be feeling more comfortable with the loss today because it balances out the earlier wins. Afridi the bowler also seems to be slowly entering the tournament.

Asif’s first spell was as poor as Pakistan’s handling of their final batting overs. But good to see the return (eventually) of one of the finest bowlers around. Am also feeling hugely masochistic. So here goes – Naved Rana, you little beauty. Never. Ever. Did I think the day would come when I’d say that.

As for Aus, they were almost perfect during the periods Pakistan were flat. Hussey got the MoM award, but Lee could well have got it. And should have.
