A gaint 507.55 carat white diamond was discovered at the Cullinan Mine near Pretoria, it is the third richest diamond producing mine in South Africa.
The diamond may be among the world's top 20 high-quality gems and has exceptional colour and clarity, indicated to be a Type I diamond.
No value has been give yet for the diamond, which weighs just over 100 grams, it is expected that the stone could be worth more than $20 million. In May 2008, the mine produced a sparkling 101.27 carat diamond.
Previously diamond mining giant De Beers, owned the mine, has discovered Cullinan Diamond in 1905 weighing 3 106 carats, which is part of the British crown jewels.
